Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair

 
Removal Procedure

1. Remove the transmission assembly.

-

Refer to Transmission Replacement.

2. Remove the flywheel.

-

Refer to Engine Flywheel Replacement (Manual Transmission).

-

Refer to Engine Flywheel Replacement (Automatic Transmission)

3. Loosen the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement.
4. Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal from the crankshaft rear oil seal housing. Refer to Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal and Housing Removal.

Installation Procedure

Tools Required
-

J 35621-B Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Installer

1. Use the J 35621-B to install the NEW oil seal.
2. Install the crankshaft rear oil seal. Refer to Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal and Housing Installation.
3. Tighten the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement
4. Install the flywheel.

Refer to Engine Flywheel Replacement (Manual Transmission).

Refer to Engine Flywheel Replacement (Automatic Transmission).

5. Install the transmission assembly.

-

Refer to Transmission Replacement.
