Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair
1.
Raise and support vehicle and place suitable supports under engine.
2.
Remove transmission assembly.
3.
Remove clutch and pressure plate, if equipped, then the flywheel or flex plate.
4.
Pry seal from bore with suitable tool, taking care not to mar crankshaft.
5.
Thoroughly clean seal bore in block, inspect bore and crankshaft surface for nicks, burrs and wear, and correct as needed.
6.
Apply light coat of clean engine oil to inner and outer surfaces of seal, install seal using J-34924 or equivalent, then reverse remaining procedure
to complete installation.
