Thermostat: Service and Repair
Thermostat And Housing
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Drain cooling to level below thermostat.
3. Bolt (72).
4. Outlet (75).
5. Gasket (73).
6. Thermostat (74).
CLEAN
^
All parts and sealing surfaces.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Install a 3 mm (1/8 inch) bead of RTV sealer 1052289 or equivalent to the groove on the water outlet sealing surface.
2. Thermostat (74).
3. New gasket (73).
4. Outlet (75).
5. Bolt (72).
Tighten
^
Bolt (72) and stud to 28 Nm (21
ft. lbs.).
6. Coolant.
7. Negative battery cable.
INSPECT
^
For leaks at the sealing surface after starting the engine.
