Dear GMC Truck Owner:
This letter has been sent to inform you of the following special policy that applies to your vehicle.
REASON FOR THIS SPECIAL POLICY
General Motors has determined that some 1985 S/T model trucks with the 2.8L (RPO LR2) engine and California emissions (YF5) may exhibit an
exhaust leak. This condition may be caused by an inadequate seal(s) between the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe.
New exhaust manifold to exhaust pipe seals and bolts have been released to correct this condition.
SPECIAL POLICY COVERAGE
Because this condition may occur beyond the warranty period, we are writing this letter to advise you that GMC Truck Division is offering the following:
^
For vehicles under 5/50,000 miles, leaking seals will be replaced under normal warranty. A free inspection if owner suspects exhaust
manifold to exhaust pipe seal leakage.
^
For vehicles over 50,000 miles, a Special Policy will provide a one time only free inspection and replacement of leaking exhaust manifold to
exhaust pipe seals (regardless of time/mileage) for three (3) months (90 days) from date of this letter.
^
Reimbursement for previous repair (see below).
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
If you have previously encountered this condition, and paid for all or part of the repair, you should contact your GMC Truck dealer to request
