Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Raise and support vehicle.
3.
Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
4.
Disconnect E.G.R pipe at exhaust manifold.
5.
Lower vehicle, remove bolts attaching air cleaner and loosen clamp bolts.
6.
Raise air cleaner slightly, then remove air cleaner hot air inlet hose.
7.
If equipped with A/C or power steering, remove A/C compressor and/or power steering pump.
8.
Remove the four attaching bolts and remove the manifold cover.
9.
Remove the seven mounting nuts from the manifold and remove the exhaust manifold.
10.
Using a new gasket, reverse procedure to install. Torque manifold stud nuts to 16 ft. lbs. in a sequence beginning with the inner nuts and working
outward.
