Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Drain cooling system then remove the fan and the heater hose and drive belts from the pump.
3.
Remove water pump attaching bolts and nut, then the pump, Fig. 12.
4.
Reverse procedure to install. On 1982-85 models, torque M6 x 1.0 bolts to 6-9 ft. lbs., M8 x 1.25 bolts to 13-18 ft. lbs. and on 1982 models, M10
x 1.5 bolts to 20-30 ft. lbs. On 1986-87 models, torque attaching bolts to 22 ft. lbs.Prior to installing water pump, thoroughly clean sealing
surfaces, then apply a 3/32 inch bead of sealant 1052357, or equivalent, to the pump sealing surface, Fig. 13. Also, coat bolt threads with
sealant 1052080, or equivalent.
