Heated Element: Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures
In the event that the heated outside rear view mirrors are not operating properly, check the following possible problems:
1. Verify that the mirror fuse is not open. If the mirror fuse is open, perform the following steps:
1.1. Repair source of overload.
1.2. Replace the mirror fuse
2. Verify that Ground G202 and G205 is clean and tight.
3. If the heated outside rear view mirror elements operate, but the HVAC control module rear defogger indicator does not light, replace the HVAC
control module.
4. If the LED indicator does not extinguish after a nominal 10 minute time delay, replace the HVAC control module.
5. Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation.
6. This could cause system malfunction but prove GOOD in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected
7. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for voltage drop with the system
operational.
8. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may effect the operation of other systems.
