Brake Caliper: Service and Repair
Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: Remove the anchor bracket only under the following circumstances.

The anchor bracket is damaged.
^
You are removing the rotor for refinishing or other service.
1. Remove the caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement (Rear Wheel).
2. Remove the anchor bracket bolts.
3. Disconnect the anchor bracket from the mounting plate.
4. Remove the parking brake rear cable. Refer to Park Brake Cable Replacement (Rear Cables Straight Pull) or Park Brake Cable Replacement (Rear
Cables Front Pull F4WD) in Park Brake.
5. Remove the parking brake shoe and lining. Refer to Park Brake Shoe Replacement in Park Brake.
6. Remove the rear axle shaft. Refer to Axle Shaft Replacement.
7. Remove the mounting plate bolts, washers, and nuts.
8. Remove the mounting plate from the axle housing.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
1. Install the mounting plate to the axle housing.

Tighten the mounting bolts to 65 Nm (47 ft. lbs.).
2. Install the rear axle shaft. Refer to Axle Shaft Replacement.
3. Install the rear parking brake shoe and lining. Refer to Park Brake Shoe Replacement in Park Brake.
4. Install the parking brake rear cable. Refer to Park Brake Cable Replacement (Rear Cables Straight Pull) or Park Brake Cable Replacement (Rear
Cables Front Pull F4WD) in Park Brake.
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Install the anchor bracket to the mounting plate.

Tighten the anchor bracket mounting bolts to 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement (Rear Wheel).
