Power Steering Bleeding: Service and Repair
Bleeding the Power Steering System Description & Inspection
After any power steering system component has been replaced, fluid line has been disconnected, or even in case of steering system noise, the air that has
entered the system must be bled out before the vehicle is operated. This will ensure proper system operation, prevent pump damage and stop steering
system noise.
INSPECT
-
Hoses for contact with any part of the vehicle which could cause steering system noise.
-
Hoses to ensure all connections are tight. A loose connection may not leak but could allow air into the system.
-
Multiple ribbed belt for tightness.
-
Pulley for looseness or damage. The pulley should not wobble with the engine running.
