Expansion/Freeze Plug: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Remove the cooling jacket plugs.
a. Use a suitable self-threading screw.
b. Drill a hole into the cooling jacket plug.
c. Install the self-threading screw.
d. Pry out the cooling jacket plug.
2. Remove the oil gallery screw plugs.
3. Remove the cooling jacket drain plugs.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the engine block coolant drain plugs.

Apply gasket paste to the plugs before installation.

Tighten Coolant Jacket Plugs to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
2. Install the cooling jacket core plugs.
3. Apply gasket paste to the plugs before installation
4. Drive the plugs into the block until they are flush using a drift that closely matches the inside diameter of the plug.
