Timing Cover: Service and Repair

FRONT COVER REMOVAL (OBD II)
IMPORTANT:
Once the composite front cover is removed do not reinstall it. Always install a new front cover because oil leaks can develop if the original cover is
reinstalled.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Crankshaft position sensor hold down bolt.
2. Crankshaft position sensor.
3. Front cover.
FRONT COVER INSTALLATION
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Front cover (142) to engine.
TIGHTEN
Bolts to 12 Nm (106 lbs. in.).
IMPORTANT:
When installing crankshaft position sensor be sure the sensor is fully seated and held stationary in the front cover bore. Torque hold down bolt to the
specification shown below. A sensor that is not seated will cock in the front cover bore and may result in erratic engine operation.
2. Crankshaft position sensor.
TIGHTEN
Bolt to 9 Nm (80 lbs. in.).
