Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming: Service and Repair
Disabling
Zone 1
IMPORTANT: Refer to SIR Service Precautions before disabling the SIR system.
1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn OFF the ignition.
3. Remove the key from the ignition.
4. Remove the AIR BAG fuse from the I/P fuse block (1) located in the I/P fuse block.
IMPORTANT: With the AIR BAG fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation and does not
indicate an SIR system malfunction.
5. Raise and support the vehicle.
6. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor connector (1) located on the frame
crossmember.
7. Disconnect the inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor connector.
Zone 3
1. Turn the steering wheel until the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
IMPORTANT: Refer to SIR Service Precautions before disabling the SIR system.
2. Turn OFF the ignition.
3. Remove the key from the ignition.
4. Remove the knee bolster.
