Center Support: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE 

1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist, and support the vehicle with safety stands. 

CAUTION:  Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Remove the propeller shaft. 
3. Remove the front propeller shaft from the rear propeller shaft by pulling rearward on the rear shaft in order to disengage the slip yoke.
4. Remove the center bearing.

Stand the propeller shaft on end in the press and press off the center bearing slinger retaining ring from the propeller shaft.

Stand the propeller shaft on end in the press with the center bearing supported by the press bars.

Press the propeller shaft down and off the center bearing.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 

1. Assemble the center bearing onto the propeller shaft,

Press the center bearing onto the shaft. Use a press.

Press the center bearing slinger retaining ring  onto the propeller shaft.

IMPORTANT:  The center bearing must be aligned in order to prevent damage to the propeller shaft assembly. When bolting the center bearing
in place on the frame, be sure to keep the center bearing perpendicular (90 degrees) to the propeller shaft.

2. Install the rear propeller shaft to the front shaft.
3. Install the propeller shaft.
4. Remove the safety stands.
5. Lower the vehicle.
