Savana 1/2 Ton Van V8-5.7L VIN R (2001)
1. Remove the screws (4) that retain the side front door assist handle (3) to the door.
2. Remove the inside handle bezel. Refer to Door Inside Handle Bezel Replacement (See: Front Door/Front Door Handle/Front Door Interior
Handle/Service and Repair/Door Handle Components) .
3. Remove the side front door trim plate. Refer to Door Trim Plate Replacement (Manual Windows) (See: Front Door/Front Door Panel/Service and
Repair/Front Door Trim Plate Replacement (Manual Windows))Door Trim Plate Replacement (Power Windows) (See: Front Door/Front Door

4. Gently pull out the trim panel at the top of the window opening. Using a long, narrow screwdriver, pry the retaining clips apart in order to
disengage the clips.
5. Lift the side front door trim panel (1) up.
6. Remove the side front door trim panel (1) from the door.
7. Remove the side front door trim panel (1) from the vehicle.
8. Inspect the side front door trim panel (1) for broken or missing retaining clips (2). Replace any retaining clips as needed.
Installation Procedure
1. Align the retaining tabs (2) on the side front door trim panel (1) with the slots on the door. Lower the side front door trim panel (1) into place.
2. Press on the top of the side front door trim panel (1) in order to engage the retaining clips (2).
3. Install the side front door trim plate. Refer to Door Trim Plate Replacement (Manual Windows) (See: Front Door/Front Door Panel/Service and
Repair/Front Door Trim Plate Replacement (Manual Windows))Door Trim Plate Replacement (Power Windows) (See: Front Door/Front Door

4. Install the inside handle bezel. Refer to Door Inside Handle Bezel Replacement (See: Front Door/Front Door Handle/Front Door Interior
Handle/Service and Repair/Door Handle Components) .
5. Install the side front door assist handle (3) to the door.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
6. Install the screws (4) in order to retain the side front door assist handle (3) to the door.
Tighten the screws that retain the front door assist handle to 1.9 N.m (17 lb in)
