Savana 1/2 Ton Van V8-5.7L VIN R (2001)
Important: Depending on the wheel base of the vehicle and the length of the exhaust system the following procedures are required in order to
remove the muffler assembly from the vehicle.
6. If equipped with 4.3L, 5.0L, and 5.7L engine with 135 inch wheel base and full body style, remove the muffler assembly hanger pins from the
exhaust hanger insulators. Due to the weight of the exhaust system it may take 2 persons.
7. Remove the muffler assembly by lifting over the rear axle and remove towards the front of the vehicle.
8. If equipped with 4.3L, 5.0L, 5.7L, 6.5L, and 8.1L engine with 155 inch wheel base and full body style, support the right side of the rear axle with a
suitable jack stand. Relieve the tension from the shock absorber.
9. Remove the right lower shock absorber bolt and nut.
10. Lower the axle.
11. Remove the muffler assembly hanger pins from the exhaust hanger insulators. Due to the weight of the exhaust system it may take 2 persons.
12. Remove the muffler assembly by lifting over the rear axle and remove towards the front of the vehicle.
