GMC Workshop Service and Repair Manuals

1. Lightly lubricate the crankshaft balancer internal hub with engine oil.
2. Install the crankshaft balancer to the crankshaft.
3. Lightly lubricate the crankshaft balancer bolt with engine oil.

Notice:  Refer to Fastener Notice   .

4. Install the crankshaft balancer bolt and washer.

1. Tighten the bolt a first pass to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).
2. Tighten the bolt a final pass an additional 90 degrees using the J 45059  .

5. Install the radiator fan clutch assembly. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement  (See: Cooling System/Radiator Cooling Fan/Fan Clutch/Service and

Repair) .

6. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement  (See: Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories/Drive Belt/Service and Repair) .
7. Remove the J 44643  .
8. Install the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement (4.3L)  Starter Motor Replacement (4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L)  Starter Motor Replacement

(6.6L)   .
