10. Remove the bolts and the balance shaft retainer.
11. Tap on the balance shaft using a soft-faced hammer in order to remove the balance shaft. Refer to Balance Shaft Removal under Engine Unit
Repair.
IMPORTANT: The balance shaft and the front bearing are serviced only as a package. Do not remove the bearing from the balance shaft.
12. Clean all sealing surfaces. Refer to Balance Shaft Clean and Inspect under Engine Unit Repair.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the balance shaft. Refer to Balance Shaft Installation under Engine Unit Repair.
2. Install the timing chain and the camshaft sprocket.
3. Install the crankshaft position reluctor ring and the engine front cover.
