IP Assist Handle Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the instrument panel passenger side knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement - Right  () .
2. Remove the passenger supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR). Refer toInflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in SIR.
3. Remove the bolts that retain the inflatable restraint filler panel to the instrument panel, if not equipped with passenger SIR.
4. Remove the inflatable restraint filler panel from the instrument panel.

5. Press the release buttons on the instrument panel assist handle retainers (2).

Pull the assist handle (1) from the instrument panel.

6. Remove the assist handle from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the instrument panel assist handle (1) to the vehicle.
2. Position the instrument panel assist handle into the retainers (2).

1. Push the instrument panel assist handle down in order to engage the retainers.
2. Verify that the instrument panel assist handle locks into place.

3. Install the inflatable restraint filler panel to the instrument panel, if not equipped with passenger SIR.

Notice:  Refer to Fastener Notice  in Cautions and Notices.

4. Install the bolts that retain the inflatable restraint filler panel to the instrument panel.

Tighten the bolts to 11 N.m (97 lb in).

5. Install the passenger supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR). Refer toInflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in SIR.
6. Install the instrument panel passenger side knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement - Right  () .
