Condition
Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions:

Drive belt noise (squeal)
^
Service Engine Soon Light illuminated
^
Generator Light illuminated
^
Engine will not start
^
Engine quits running
This condition is most prevalent at outside temperatures below 0°C (32°F).
Cause
The plastic windshield water runoff duct may not be properly sealed or fastened to the cowl located directly above the generator. This can lead to runoff
water from the windshield being directed onto the generator. During times of freezing temperatures, the ingested water can become frozen inside the
generator, resulting in generator damage.
Correction
Replace the generator and reseal the windshield water runoff duct mating surface to the cowl and fastening it onto the studs in the cowl, ensuring that it is
properly sealed at the three studs. Use the procedure and part numbers listed below.
1.
Remove the generator. Refer to the Generator Replacement procedure in the Engine Electrical sub-section of the Service Manual.
2.
Inspect and replace the drive belt, if necessary.
