Removal Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (See: Maintenance/Vehicle Lifting/Service and Repair).
2. Remove the differential assembly. Refer to Differential Replacement (8.6 Inch Axle) (See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Rear

3. Remove the drive pinion from the axle. Refer to Drive Pinion and Ring Gear Replacement (8.6 Inch Axle) (See: Pinion Gear/Service and Repair

Note: If servicing the 8.6 inch axle go to step 4. If servicing the 9.5 inch axle go to step 5.
4. Using the DT 47688 - Pinion Bearing Remover 8.6 Inch Axle and a press, remove the pinion bearing from the drive pinion.
