Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

NOTE:  Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.

1. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
2. Remove the brace from the intake air heater-to-generator bracket.
3. Drain the coolant to a level below the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (Static Fill)

4. Disconnect the ECT sensor electrical connector.

5. Remove the ECT sensor (1).
