Lower Bearing and Steering Column Jacket Replacement (Column Shift Standard)

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution .

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
2. Remove the shift lever assembly.
3. Remove the ignition lock cylinder.
4. Remove the ignition lock cylinder case.
5. Inspect the steering column for accident damage.

6. Remove the 2 pan head tapping screws from the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly.
7. Remove the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly.

Notice: Do not use excessive force when removing the automatic transmission shift lock control from the steering column. Using excessive force
may cause damage to the automatic transmission shift lock control and/or the steering column.

8. Remove the A/T shift lock control in the following way:

1. Put the shift lever clevis into the NEUTRAL position.
2. Use a small screwdriver to pry the A/T shift lock control away from the steering column jacket assembly and the cable shift cam assembly.

9. Remove the linear shift assembly.
