Sierra 3500 4WD V8-6.6L DSL Turbo VIN 2 (2004)
Important: When installing the flywheel, ensure that the tapered side of the teeth are facing the starter.
Install the flywheel.
3. Notice: This component uses bolts with a preapplied molybdenum disulfide coating for thread lubrication. Do not remove the coating or use any
additional lubricant. Improperly lubricated threads will adversely affect the bolt torque and clamp load. Improper bolt torque and clamp load can
lead to engine damage.
Loosely install NEW flywheel bolts.
4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten the flywheel bolts in the proper sequence.
1. Tighten the bolts a first pass to 79 Nm (58 ft. lbs.).
2. Tighten the bolts a second pass to 60 degrees using J 45059.
3. Tighten the bolts a final pass an additional 60 degrees using J 45059.
5. Install the starter motor.
6. Install the clutch.
