1. Notice:  

Refer to Fastener Notice.

Install the rear axle drain plug.

Tighten the rear axle drain plug to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).

2. Fill the rear axle. Use the proper fluid. Refer to Approximate Fluid Capacities and Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations.

3. Install the rear axle fill plug.

Tighten the rear axle fill plug to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).

4. Lower the vehicle.

Removal Procedure

1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.

2. For the 9.5/9.5LD and the 10.5 inch axles, remove the rear axle fill plug.
