REFINISHING WHITE LOWER BODY CLADDING

It may be necessary to refinish the white lower body molding (cladding) on 1993 Typhoon vehicles due to various types of damage.
The following Service Refinish Procedure may be used.
SERVICE REFINISH PROCEDURE
NOTICE
The products listed below are manufactured by PPG. Follow all label directions for safety, application, mixing and drying. Equivalent products from
other manufacturers may be used.
1.
Depending on the severity of damage, it may or may not be necessary to remove the molding from the vehicle. If removal is required, follow the
removal instructions stated in the Typhoon Service Manual Section 2B "Sheet Metal".
2.
Wash each damaged part with soap and water. Wipe dry.
3.
Solvent wipe entire part(s) with DX-330 Grease and Wax Remover.
4.
Repair damaged area and feather edge surrounding area with 240-320 grit sandpaper.
5.
Apply one (1) wet coat of DP Epoxy Primer to the bare substrate/part.
If additional filling is required, apply 2 to 3 coats of K-36 or K200 Acrylic Urethane Primer Surfacers mixed with K-248 Flexible Hardener.
6.
After the primer surfacer is dry, block sand with 430-600 grit sandpaper. Reclean with DX-330 Wax and Grease Remover.
7.
Apply 2 to 3 coats of Deltron Acrylic Urethane (DAU 2185) White mixed with DX-369 Flexible Additive.
8.
Allow to dry 16 hours or force dry for 40 minutes at 140 degrees F (60 degrees C) prior to molding reinstallation (if required) or returning to
service. Refer to Service Manual X-9376, Section 2B "Sheet Metal" for molding reinstallation instructions.
