Wheel Hub (Locking): Adjustments

1.
Remove dust cap or locking hub, lockwasher and outer locknut.
2.
Using suitable spanner wrench, torque adjusting nut to 50 ft. lbs. to seat bearing, then back off adjusting nut. Refer to Fig. 4.
3.
On automatic hubs, rotate wheel and torque adjusting nut to 35 ft. lbs., then back off 3/8 of a turn.
4.
On manual hubs, rotate wheel and torque adjusting nut to 50 ft. lbs., then back off enough to free bearing.
5.
On all models, install ring and lock nut.
6.
Ensure tang on inside diameter of washer passes onto slot in spindle and hole in washer aligns with locknut pin. Move adjustment nut as
necessary to align pin, then tighten locknut to specifications
7.
Ensure endplay is .001-.010 inch.
8.
Install dust cap or locking hub.
