Coolant Reservoir: Description and Operation
Diesel Surge Tank
This diesel engine uses a cooling system with a surge tank. The pressure cap for the diesel engine is different than the gasoline engine pressure cap and is
located on the surge tank. The surge tank used with this cooling system is pressurized. Coolant circulates through the surge tank to allow any air that is in
the system to be removed and to provide room for the coolant to expand when the coolant is hot.
