Gap between Door Panel Covering and Lock Button Molding (Supersedes Bulletin 82-033 dated November 1982)
PROBLEM The vinyl covering on the upper edge of the door panel pulls away from the lock button molding, leaving a gap between the edge of the vinyl
and the edge of the molding.
CORRECTIVE ACTION Install a new molding with wider edges to cover the gap. If one or more doors have a gap between the molding and vinyl,
replace the moldings on all four doors. If a gap is wider than 4 mm, replace the door panel.
1.
Roll the window down so you can work from outside the car.
2.
With both thumbs, push the top edge of the molding down and toward the inside of the car until it pops out. Then lift the molding straight up to
remove it.
3.
Slip the new molding all the way down around the lock button. Then, with a small screwdriver, push its hook down as shown and snap the molding
into place.
