Body - Outside Mirror Won't Hold or Adjust

Outside Mirror Adjustment
If an outside mirror won't hold its adjustment, or can't be adjusted at all, check its swivel mount and linkage.
LOOSE SWIVEL MOUNT
A mirror that jumps out of adjustment when the car is driven over rough roads, or when someone shuts the door, can be easily fixed. Just insert a # 2
Phillips screwdriver through the hole in the bottom of the mirror housing, and tighten the mirror-glass pinch screw as shown.
After tightening the screw, try adjusting the mirror. If the adjustment takes too much effort, loosen the screw slightly and try it again. There should be
enough tension on the mirror to hold it in position but not so much that it's hard to adjust.
DISCONNECTED ADJUSTING LINK
If the mirror can't be adjusted at all (the knob is easy to move but doesn't move the glass), its adjusting link is probably disconnected. (Although the
mirror has a 2-way hinge to let it "bend" forward and backward, if it's pushed too far forward, the adjusting link can come out of the guide on the back of
the glass.)

Loosen the pinch screw as shown in the first column.

Then, with your fingers, carefully pry the glass out of the mirror, top edge first.

Make sure the guide is snapped securely into the back of the glass, then slide the guide and the glass onto the adjusting link.
4.
Reinstall the glass. Press firmly on its center until its socket pops back onto the swivel, then tighten the pinch screw.
