Power Steering Fluid: Service and Repair

P/S Fluid Replacement

1.

Disconnect the return hose from the gearbox at the reservoir. Put the end of the hose in a suitable container.

2.

Start engine. Allow engine to idle while turning steering wheel from lock to lock several times. When fluid stops running out, shut off engine.

3.

Properly dispose of fluid.

4.

Reinstall return line. Fill reservoir to upper level mark.

5.

Start engine. Allow engine to run at fast idle. Turn steering wheel from lock to lock several times to bleed system.

CAUTION:Do not over fill reservoir as damage may result.

6.

Recheck fluid level, add fluid if necessary.
