Wind Whistle at the A-Pillar
SYMPTOM
A whistling noise can be heard coming from the front edge of the glass when driving at 40 mph or higher.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The door glass is out of adjustment, allowing it to tilt forward and cause a gap at the leading edge.
DIAGNOSIS
1.
Lower the glass about eight inches. Place three pieces of masking tape along the edge of the glass - parallel to the A-pillar, along the top, and
parallel to the B-pillar.
2.
Raise the window. Mark the tape where it contacts the run channel.
3.
Open and close the window, and observe its movement. The glass, if adjusted properly, should appear to move straight up and down in the
opening without tilting.
4.
Remove the tape from the glass and close the window fully. Test drive the car at highway speed and use a stethoscope to confirm that the wind
