SYMPTOM

The trunk lid doesn't stay open all the way when the car is parked on an incline or the wind blows against it.

NOTE:
This campaign does not apply to any car with a Honda accessory trunk-mounted spoiler or luggage rack. The installation kits for those accessories
included stronger trunk lid springs.

CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION

Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail that the stronger springs are now available. The customer letter is reproduced on the back of this
service bulletin.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the trunk lid torsion bars (Trunk Open Springs) with the new parts listed under PARTS INFORMATION.

1.

Support the trunk lid so it cannot fall down after the torsion bars are removed.

2.

Remove the torsion bar center clip.

3.

Use a torsion bar assembly tool to disconnect the bars from their brackets in the body. Slide the torsion bars out of the hinges.

4.

Install the new torsion bars. These new torsion bars are color-coded: install the bar with the red end in the RIGHT trunk hinge, and the bar with the
yellow end in the LEFT trunk hinge.

5.

Reinstall the torsion bar center clip.
