Radiator Cooling Fan Temperature Sensor / Switch: Testing and Inspection
COOLANT TEMPERATURE SWITCH TEST
1. Drain cooling system and remove coolant temperature switch "A" from the thermostat housing and coolant temperature switch "B" from the water
outlet housing.
2. Suspend the coolant temperature switch in a container of coolant.
3. Heat the coolant and check coolant temperature with a thermometer.
4. Check each switch for continuity between the terminals at the temperatures listed.
Coolant Temperature Switch "A" (Radiator Fan)
ON (Continuity), Above: 87° - 93° C (189° - 199° F)
OFF (No continuity), Below: 80° - 91° C (176° - 196° F)
Coolant Temperature Switch "B" (A/C Fan Timer System)
ON (Continuity), Above: 105° - 111° C (221° - 232° F)
OFF (No continuity), Below: 98° - 109° C (208° - 228° F)
