Camshaft Oil Seal Leaking
SYMPTOM
An accumulation of oil behind the timing belt cover where the bore sizes are stamped.
PROBABLE CAUSE
Leaking camshaft oil seal.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the oil seal with the seal listed in PARTS INFORMATION. Install the new oil seal using the special tools shown in this bulletin.
1.
Remove the valve cover and the timing belt upper cover.
NOTE:
There is a small possibility that the timing belt may have been contaminated with oil. Inspect the belt and replace it if it has been contaminated.
2.
Disconnect the outlet hose from the power steering pump. Plug the outlet hose and the pump port, then move the hose out of the way.
