SYMPTOM
The odometer sticks in one position, usually at low mileage.
VEHICLES AFFECTED
All 1991 Accords with Nippon Seiki (NS) gauge assemblies.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the odometer/trip meter assembly with the part listed under PARTS INFORMATION.
1.
Remove the front console as described on page 20-63 of the 1991 Accord Service Manual (second edition).
2.
Remove the dash switches and the radio (page 20-66).
3.
Remove the gauge assembly (page 23-114).
[NOTICE]
To avoid contaminating the instruments, place the odometer/trip meter in a clean work area.
4.
Remove the screws that secure the coolant temperature/fuel gauge, speedometer and tachometer (page 23-113).
5.
On the back of the assembly, disconnect the instrument light from the socket on the main circuit board.
