Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming: Service Precautions
-
Use only a digital multimeter to check the system. Using an analog circuit tester may cause an accidental deployment and possible injury.
-
Except when performing electrical inspections, always disconnect both the negative cable and positive cable at the battery before beginning work.
-
Airbag assembly can not be disassembled. Always store airbag assembly with pad facing upward on a flat surface and away from heat exceeding
212°F.
-
Never attempt to modify, splice or repair SRS wiring. SRS wiring can be identified by yellow outer protective covering.
-
Always use test harness. Do not use test probes directly on components connector pins or wires.

-
To avoid accidental deployment and possible injury always install protective short connector on airbag connector (driver and passenger for 1992
Prelude Si) before working near any SRS wiring, Figs. 1 and 2.
-
On 1992 Prelude and Accord, disarm radio coded theft protection, before disconnecting battery cables.
