Impact Sensor: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery negative and positive terminals.
2. Remove steering wheel maintenance lid, then disconnect cable reel harness and airbag assembly connector. Connect short connector to airbag

assembly.

3. When replacing left hand side sensor, pull back carpeting and remove steering joint cover, then pull rubber floor pad up and remove harness

cover.

4. When replacing left hand side sensor, pull back carpeting and unbolt ECU bracket. On automatic transmission models, disconnect automatic

transmission control unit connector, then pull rubber floor pad down.

5. On all models, remove two dash sensor mounting bolts from sensor bracket, then dash sensor.
6. Reverse procedure to install noting the following:

a. Torque dash sensor mounting bolts to 16 Ft. Lbs.
b. Confirm proper system by turning ignition switch on and observing instrument panel SRS indicator light. It should come on for approximately

six seconds, then turn off.
