Shift Fork: Testing and Inspection

1. Measure the clearance between the reverse shift fork and 5th/reverse shift piece pin.

1. If the clearance is outside the above limits. measure the width of the L-groove in the reverse shift fork.

Standard:
A: 7.05-7.25 mm (0.278-0.285 in) 
B: 7.4-7.7 mm (0.291-0.303 in) 

2. Replace the reverse shift fork with a new one if it is outside the above limits.

2. Measure the clearance between the reverse idler gear and reverse shift fork.

1. If the clearance exceeds 1.8 mm (service limit), measure the width of the reverse shift fork pawl groove.
2. If the width is outside the above limits, replace the shift fork with a new one.
