Front ABS Wheel Sensor Harness Rubs Against Wheel

(Supersedes 97-072, dated October 27, 1997)

SYMPTOM

One or both front ABS wheel sensor wire harnesses rub against the inner side of the tire(s) or wheel(s).

PROBABLE CAUSE

There is too much slack in the wire harness, or the top wire harness mounting bracket is not installed correctly.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Inspect the wheel sensor wire harnesses at PDI or during routine maintenance, and perform the appropriate procedure:

Replace the speed sensor.

Adjust the wire harness.

-

Properly reinstall the wire harness mounting bracket.

Repair Procedure

1.

With the vehicle sitting on the ground, turn the wheels to the side of the vehicle you are inspecting.
