Transmission Shift Position Indicator Lamp: Testing and Inspection

INDICATOR INPUT TEST

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations, precautions, and procedures in the Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint
Systems) before performing repairs or service.

1. Remove the instrument panel.

2. Remove the gauge assembly from the dashboard, then disconnect the gauge assembly B (22P) and C (16P) connectors.

3. Inspect the connectors and connector terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.

If the terminals are bent, loose, or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.

If the terminals look OK, make the following input tests at the gauge assembly B (22P) and C (16P) connectors.

If a test indicates a problem, find a correct the cause, then recheck the system.

If all the input tests prove OK, but the indicator is faulty, replace the printed circuit board.
