SYMPTOM

Harsh or rough shifting, or shifts are delayed.

PROBABLE CAUSE

The throttle control cable is not adjusted properly.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Adjust the throttle control cable.

1.

Warm the engine up to normal operating temperature. Verify that the idle speed is correct (refer to service manual page 11-114).

2.

Verify that the throttle cable has the proper free play.

3.

Verify that the throttle plate is fully closed.
