Disconnect heater hoses from heater core and plug core tubes.

Disconnect heater valve cable, then remove heater case lower mounting nut.

Remove steering wheel.

Remove screws attaching hood opener bracket, then secure hood opener aside with cable attached, Figs. 34 and 35.

Remove left and right hand instrument panel side caps.
7.
Remove defroster garnishes and ash tray.
8.
On wagon models, remove clock from instrument panel.
9.
On models except wagon, remove center air outlet duct.
10.
Remove instrument panel lower panel, then disconnect speedometer cable and ground cable.
11.
Remove glove compartment or package tray, then disconnect antenna lead wire.
12.
Remove heater control knobs and control plate, then remove heater control to instrument panel retaining screws.
13.
Disconnect instrument panel electrical connectors at fuse panel.
14.
Remove instrument panel attaching bolts, then carefully lift and pull instrument panel from guide pin located near upper center portion of
instrument panel.
15.
Remove two remaining heater case mounting bolts, then the heater case.
16.
Separate heater housing as necessary and remove heater core.
17.
Reverse procedure to install. When installing instrument panel, ensure panel is properly positioned on guide and that wiring harness are properly
routed. Tighten instrument panel attaching bolts alternately and evenly, ensuring instrument panel remains properly aligned. After refilling cooling
system, loosen engine cooling system bleed bolt located in upper radiator hose outlet. Start engine. Tighten bleed bolt when cooling system
trapped air has escaped and coolant begins to flow.
