Purge Control Diaphragm Valve: Testing and Inspection

Cold Engine

NOTE: Engine coolant temperature must be below thermovalve "B" set temperature.

1.  Disconnect upper hose at purge control diaphragm valve and connect vacuum gauge to hose, Fig. 45.

2.  Start engine and allow it to idle. If there is vacuum, check thermovalve "B". If not, disconnect vacuum gauge and reconnect hose.

Hot Engine

1.  Disconnect upper hose at purge control diaphragm valve and connect vacuum gauge to hose, Fig. 45, then wait for engine to reach operating

temperature.
