Ball Joint: Service and Repair
Lower Ball Joint

1.

Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove front wheels.

2.

Support lower control arm with a suitable floor jack. Ensure jack is positioned securely under lower control arm at the ball joint to prevent 
torsion bar tension causing steering knuckle to jump when lower ball joint is removed.

3.

Remove ball joint cotter pin and nut.

4.

Pry ball joint from steering knuckle. If necessary, a ball joint removal tool may be used. Lower floor jack slowly.

5.

Remove radius arm self locking nut, Fig. 1, then the radius arm/ball joint to torsion arm self locking bolts.

6.

Remove radius arm/ball joint assembly.

7.

Replace ball joint.

8.

Reverse procedure to install. Refer to Fig. 1 for torque specifications.
