Brake Drum: Service and Repair

1.

Inspect wheel cylinders for leakage, and brake linings for cracking, glazing, wear and contamination.

2.

Measure brake lining thickness. Compare measurement with specifications. If brake lining thickness is less than specified, replace both shoes as a
set.

3.

Inspect brake drum for scoring, grooving and cracks. Replace as necessary.

4.

Measure inside diameter of brake drum. Compare measurement with specifications. If refinishing limit stamped on drum is different than
specified, use the specification on the drum.
