Camshaft: Service and Repair

1.

Remove camshaft driven sprocket as described under CAM DRIVE SPROCKET, TIMING & BALANCER SHAFT BELT.

2.

Remove rocker arm assembly.

3.

Carefully lift camshaft assembly from engine.

4.

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Lubricate camshaft assembly prior to installation.
b. Tighten each bearing cap bolt two turns at a time in a criss-cross fashion starting with center two caps and working outward, tighten to

specification.

c. After camshaft and rocker arms are installed, install new camshaft seal with spring side (open side) facing in, using suitable seal installation

tool.

d. Adjust timing belt. Refer to Engine/Timing Components/Timing Belt/Adjustments.
