Water Leaks from Under Dashboard

PROBLEM

Water leaks from under the right or left end of the dashboard while the car is parked.

PROBABLE CAUSE

Insufficient sealer on the seams where the dashboard support, the floor, and the kick panel support join together.

DIAGNOSIS

Run water over the windshield. If the leak is on the left side, pull the carpet back from the upper floor/ kick panel area and check the seams. On the right
side, remove the glove box and blower to check the seams for leakage.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

1.

Remove the original sealer from the affected side as shown.

2.. Brush on a seam sealer, such as 3M AllAround Autobody Sealant (3M P/N 08500) or equivalent, to the area where the original sealer was removed.

3.

After the sealer has cured (about 30 minutes), retest the area for leaks and add more sealer if necessary.
