Brake Caliper: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation

1.

Raise and support front of vehicle and remove wheels.

2.

Remove brake hose bracket bolt, if equipped and the brake hose banjo bolt, disconnect brake hose and secure hose in raised position.

3.

Remove caliper guide pins or guide pin bolts, then remove caliper.

4.

Remove brake pads, shims, retainers and/or anti-rattle springs as outlined.

5.

Remove caliper bracket retaining bolts and the caliper bracket.

6.

Install mounting bracket and torque bolts to 56 ft. lbs.

7.

Install brake pads as outlined, ensure caliper piston is fully seated, then position caliper over brake pads.

8.

Install guide pin retaining bolts or guide pins and torque to 20 ft. lbs. on all except Prelude or 13 ft. lbs. for Prelude models.

9.

Install brake hose using new sealing washers, torque banjo bolt to 25 ft. lbs. and hose bracket screw to 7 ft. lbs, then bleed brake system.
