INSPECTION PROCEDURE

*Look for signs of contact (scrape marks) between the two lower coils on each front spring.

If you see scrape marks (missing paint), refer to service bulletin 01-054, Front Suspension Noise.

If you do not see scrape marks, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.*

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1.

Raise the vehicle on a hoist, then remove the front wheel from the appropriate side of the vehicle.

2.

Remove the lower control arm from the vehicle. Refer to page 18-19 of the 2001-04 Civic Service Manual.

*NOTE:

Use the Ball Joint Thread Protector (T/N 07AAF-SDAA100) and the Ball Joint Remover (T/N 07MAC-SL00200) when disconnecting the ball
joint from the lower arm. Do not use a hammer to loosen the ball joint.*

3.

Mark the position of the arrows on the old compliance bushing onto the lower control arm.
