6. Run the engine at 2,500 rpm for 10 seconds to stabilize conditions.
7. Recheck idle speed and, if necessary, adjust by turning throttle stop screw.
8. Check the idle controller boosted speed.

NOTE: There is no idle controller on automatic transmission cars without air conditioner and power steering.

On 1300 and 1500 manual transmission cars, check the idle speed with the headlights on and the heater blower set to "III".

On 1500 automatic transmission cars with power steering, check the idle speed while turning the steering wheel.

9. Adjust the idle speed, if necessary, by turning the idle control screw.

NOTE: If the idle rpm does not reach the specified idle speeds:

On cars with power steering: go to step 10.

On cars with manual transmission: check the idle boost solenoid valve.

10. On cars with power steering, if the idle speed is not as specified disconnect the power steering pressure switch connector and short the terminals

with a jumper wire to actuate the idle controller.

11. Set the idle speed to the following rpm by turning the idle control screw:

CALIFORNIA: 

77O ± 5O rpm

49ST and HI ALT: 

72O ± 5O rpm (at high altitude) 

77O ± 5O rpm (at low altitude)

12. If the idle rpm does not reach the specified idle speed, check the idle boost solenoid valve.
